THE ISLAMIC GREETING IS A GREETING OF PEACE

Even your greetings it is about peace

Asalamu Alaikum
Islam means a total submission to the creator God almighty whose name is AL –SALAM which means peace, So in the other words, it means to live in Gods mercy and in the kingdom of God here in this world away from bad and evil deeds.
To live in peace with yourself and as well as with other people,  not forgetting the animals and the environment. Islam is a complete system of life and its a duty to a Muslim to live in peace and harmony with all these segments; Muslims are supposed to be among those who preach peace in the universe.

For it is submitting to Gods will that human being gain peace in their lives in this world and in the hereafter. There is no doubt that Islam is the religion of peace, and it’s the only way to a lasting peace, if only Muslims could  value the word peace which the lord has blessed their tongue with the word peace.
The lord has chosen and decided to let the greetings of this umma to be unique and so special it is a blessing for those who think and understand .I wonder how can a Muslim live his life away from these blessed Islamic way of life, and expect to live a better life .Dear brothers and sisters have you ever thought of what this Islamic greetings stand for or do you just say it just for the sake of greeting, .have you ever compared it with any others greeting that we greet each other with any way, what does this word AS-SALAMU ALAIKUM WA RAHMA TULAH WA BARAKATU, means or stands for well, this words means peace, mercy and blessings of the lord be on you, let alone the meaning of these greetings,
do you know that Allah is the one who is commanding us Muslim to greet each other with this kind of greetings ?

Well Allah said in the holly Quran (O ye who believe! enter not houses other than your own until ye have asked permission and saluted those in them: that is best for you in order that ye may heed) (Surat An Nur 27)
(But if ye enter houses salute each other a greeting or blessing and purity as from Allah. Thus does Allah make clear the Signs to you: that ye may understand.) (Surat An-Nur 61)

(The believers men and women are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is just and forbid what is evil: they observe regular prayers practice regular charity and obey Allah and His apostle. On them will Allah pour His mercy: for Allah is Exalted in power Wise.)(Surat Tauba 71)
Abu Dardaa narrated that the prophet (p.b.u.h.) ``said that spread the greetings you will be at your utmost level of life.`` So you can see what roll the Islamic greetings play to shape our affair ,and here is another hadith:
Al Bara’a bin Aazib narrated that the prophet said ``spread the greetings you will be in peace``( remember it is not any kind of greetings but it is the one God is commanding you to greet each other with) But if ye enter houses salute each other a greeting or blessing and purity as from Allah. Thus does Allah make clear the Signs to you: that ye may understand.) (Surat An-Nur 61) AS-SALAMU ALAIKUM WA RAHMA TULAH WA BARAKATU, which means peace, mercy and blessings of the lord be on you,

Allah has subjected everything in the heaven and earth to human benefit and He (God) farther mad his evident lavished on you human, so that you may take heed. Cant you see that Allah has decided to shower you with his blessing and mercy at all time by just saying: the Islamic greeting peace, mercy and blessings of the lord be on you. If we can only reason and try to understand why do we say or we do certain things, before even doing it. because these things they do end up in two different ways they are the good and evil, and our speech are based on wisdom and a decorated empty words that misguide human. so before we say or do anything we have to think of the better option ,God has giving you this opportunity to stop and think , you have to yourself what is that you are supposed to do or say you have to turn to the better option this is the moment of reckoning that will perfect you destination in life, it is time for you to make up your mind which way would you go for the better or for the worse,
I believe you are strong enough to go for the good deeds that will lead you to right path of Lord the Almighty. This moment actually is moment of glory whereby you please God and no one else, you glorify God by simply deciding to perform the good deeds and at the same time you refrain and avoid all the bad and evil deeds that will displeasure God the Creator .
Greeting in paradise will be "Assalam-u-Alaikum" which means: "peace be upon you."
9 Lo! Those who believe and do good works, their Lord guides them by their faith. Rivers will] flow beneath them in the Gardens of Delight,
10 Their prayer therein will be: Glory be to Thee, O Allah! And their greeting therein will be: Peace. And the conclusion of their prayer will be: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds! Yunis
3 And those who believed and did good works are made to enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow, therein abiding by permission of their Lord, their greeting therein: Peace! (Ibrahim)
Umayr came up and according to the pagan way said, "Good morning." The Holy Prophet said, "God has honoured us with a better form of greeting O Umayr. It is 'Salaam', the greeting of the inhabitants of the paradise."
“When anyone greets you in a courteous manner, let your greetings be better than his - or at least return the same. Allah keeps account of everything “. Surat An-Nisa 86
O believers! When you struggle in the way of Allah, investigate carefully, and do not say to anyone who offers you a salutation: "You are not a believer" in order to seek worldly gain by this. Allah has abundant spoils for you. Remember that you yourselves were in the same condition before, Allah has conferred His favors on you. Therefore, make a thorough investigation before considering someone an unbeliever. Allah is well aware of all your actions. Surat An-Nisa 94
When those who believe in Our revelations come to you, say: "Peace be upon you. Your Rabb has decreed mercy upon Himself. If anyone among you commits evil because of ignorance and thereafter repents and mends his ways; you will find Allah Forgiving, Merciful." Al An' am 54
Narrated Abu Huraira Al Bukhari
The Prophet said, "Allah created Adam, making him 60 cubits tall. When He created him, He said to him, "Go and greet that group of angels, and listen to their reply, for it will be your greeting (salutation) and the greeting salutation) of your offspring." So, Adam said (to the angels), As-Salamu Alaikum (i.e. Peace be upon you). The angels said, "As-salamu Alaikum wa Rahmatu-l-lahi" (i.e. Peace and Allah's Mercy be upon you). Thus the angels
added to Adam's salutation the expression, 'Wa Rahmatu-l-lahi.' Any person who will enter Paradise will resemble Adam (in appearance and figure). People have been decreasing in stature since Adam's creation.
Narrated AbuJurayy Jabir ibn Salim al-Hujaymi
I saw a man whose opinion was accepted by the people, and whatever he said they submitted to it. I asked: Who is he? They said: This is the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him). I said: On you be peace, Apostle of Allah, twice. He said: Do not say "On you be peace," for "On you be peace" is a greeting for the dead, but say "Peace be upon you".
Narrated A man
Ghalib said: When we were sitting at al-Hasan's door, a man came along. He said: My father told me on the authority of my grandfather, saying: My father sent me to the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) and said: Go to him and give him a greeting. So I went to him and said: My father sends you a greeting. He said: Upon you and upon your father be peace. Sunat Abu Dawood
Narrated Abu Huraira
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If any one of you greets me, Allah returns my soul to me and I respond to the greeting.
Shunning People Al Muwatta
Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Ata ibn Yazid al-Laythi from Abu Ayyub al-An sari that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "It is not halal for a Muslim to shun his rother for more than three nights, that is they meet, and this one turns away and that one turns away. The better of the two is the one who says the greeting first."
Behavior in the Greeting Al Muwatta
Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "The one riding greets the one walking, and when one of a group of people gives a greeting, it is enough for all of them."

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ishaq ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Talha from Abu Murra, the mawla of Aqil ibn Abi Talib from Abu Waqid al-Laythi that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was sitting in the mosque with some people when three people came in. Two came toward the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and one went away. When the two stopped at the assembly of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, they gave the greeting. One of them saw a gap in the circle and sat in it. The other sat down behind the circle. The third turned away and left. When the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, finished, he said, "Shall I tell you about three people? One of them sought shelter with Allah, so Allah gave him shelter. The other was shy, so Allah was shy to him. The other turned away, so Allah turned away from him."

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ishaq ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Talha that Anas ibn Malik heard Umar ibn al-Khattab return the greeting of a man who greeted him. Then Umar asked the man, "How are you?" He said, "I
praise Allah to you." (Ahmadu ilayka Allah) Umar said, "That is what I wanted from you."
General Section on the Greeting.
yahya related to me from Malik from Ishaq ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Talha that at-Tufayl ibn Ubayy ibn Kab told him that he visited Abdullah ibn Umar one morning and went out with him to the market, and when they were out,
Abdullah ibn Umar did not pass by anyone selling poor merchandise or selling commodities or a needy person or anyone but that he greeted them. At-Tufayl said, "I came to Abdullah ibn Umar one day and he asked me to follow him to the market. I said to him, 'What will you do in the market if you will not stop to sell nor seek any goods or barter with them or sit in any of the assemblies or market?' Abdullah ibn Umar said that we should sit down and talk, and then he explained, 'Abu Batni, (lit. father of the belly, at-Tufayl had a prominent stomach), we go out in the morning only for the sake of the greeting. We greet whomever we meet.' "
One should not talk when going to the bathroom Fiqh
One should not respond to a greeting or repeat what the caller to prayer is saying. He may speak if there is some necessity (i.e., to guide a blind man who fears he may be harmed). If he sneezes, he should praise Allah to himself and simply move his lips (without making a sound). Ibn 'Umar related that a man passed by the Prophet, upon whom be peace, and greeted him while he (the Prophet) was urinating. The Prophet did not return his greeting. (This is related by "the group," except for al-Bukhari.) Abu Sa'eed reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah, upon whom be peace, say, "Isn't it true that Allah detests those who converse while they relieve themselves?" This was related by Ahmad, Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah.
This hadith seems to support the position that it is forbidden to talk. Many scholars, however, say that it is only disliked, not forbidden.
Narrated Abdullah bin Masud Bukhari
We used to say the greeting, name and greet each other in the prayer. Allah's Apostle heard it and said: "Say, 'At-tahiyyatu lil-lahi was-salawatu wat-taiyibatu . Assalamu 'Alaika aiyuha-n-Nabiyu wa-rahmatu-l-lahi wa-barakatuhu. _ Assalamu alaina wa-'ala 'ibadi-l-lahi as-salihin. Ashhadu an la ilaha illa-l-lah wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan 'abdu hu wa Rasuluh.' (All the compliments are for Allah and all the prayers and all the good things (are for Allah). Peace be on you, O Prophet, and Allah's mercy and blessings (are on you). And peace be on us and on the good (pious) worshipers of Allah. I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and Apostle.) So, when you have said this, then you have surely sent the greetings to every good (pious)
worshipper of Allah, whether he be in the Heaven or on the Earth."
Narrated Abdullah Al Bukhari
I used to greet the Prophet while he was in prayer and he would return my greeting, but when we returned (from Ethiopia) I greeted the Prophet (while he was praying) but he did not return the greeting, and (after finishing the prayer) he said, "In the prayer one is occupied (with a more serious matter)."
Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah Al Bukhari
Allah's Apostle sent me for some job and when I had finished it I returned and came to the Prophet and greeted him but he did not return my greeting. So I felt so sorry that only Allah knows it and I said to myself, 'Perhaps Allah's Apostle is angry because I did not come quickly, then again I greeted him but he did not reply. I felt even more sorry than I did the first time. Again I greeted him and he returned the greeting and said, "The thing which prevented me from returning the greeting was that I was praying." And at that time he was on his Rahila and his face was not towards the Qibla.
Narrated Al Bara bin Azib Al Bukhari
Allah's Apostle ordered us to do seven things and forbade us to do other seven. He ordered us: to follow the funeral procession, to visit the sick, to accept invitations, to help the oppressed, to fulfill the oaths, to return the greeting and to reply to the sneezer (saying, "May Allah be merciful on you," provided the sneezer says, "All the praises are for Allah,").
Narrated Usama bin Zaid Al Bukhari
The daughter of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) sent (a messenger) to the Prophet requesting him to come as her child was dying (or was gasping), but the Prophet returned the messenger and told him to convey his greeting to her and say: "Whatever Allah takes is for Him and whatever He gives, is for Him, and everything with Him has a limited fixed term (in this world) and so she should be patient and hope for Allah's reward." She again sent for him, swearing that he should come. The Prophet got up, and so did Sad bin 'Ubada, Muadh bin Jabal, Ubai bin Ka'b, Zaid bin Thabit and some other men. The child was brought to Allah's Apostle while his breath was disturbed in his chest (the sub-narrator thinks that Usama added: ) as if it was a leather water-skin. On that the eyes of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) started shedding tears. Sad said, "O Allah's Apostle! What is this?" He replied, "It is mercy which Allah has lodged in the hearts of His slaves, and Allah is merciful only to those of His slaves who are merciful (to others)."
Narrated Abu Said Al Khudri Al Bukhari
The Prophet said, "Beware! Avoid sitting on the roads." They (the people) said, "O Allah's Apostle! We can't help sitting (on the roads) as these are (our places) where we have talks." The Prophet said, "If you refuse but to sit, then pay the road its right." They said, "What is the right of the road, O Allah's Apostle?" He said, "Lowering your gaze, refraining from harming others, returning greeting, and enjoining what is good, and forbidding what is evil."
Narrated Abu Aiyub
The Prophet said, "It is not lawful for a Muslim to desert (not to speak to) his brother Muslim for more than three days while meeting, one turns his face to one side and the other turns his face to the other side. Lo! The better of the two is the one who starts greeting the other."
"Only if you will give me an undertaking that you will guide me to what I seek." Ali agreed and Abu Dharr said: "I came to Makkah from a distant place seeking a meeting with the new Prophet and to listen to some of what he has to say."
The first person to greet the prophet with the Islamic greetings
Ali's face lit up with happiness as he said, "By God, he is really the Messenger of God," and he went on telling Abu Dharr more about the Prophet and his teaching. Finally, he said: "When we get up in the morning, follow me wherever I go. If I see anything which I am afraid of for your sake, I would stop as if to pass water. If I continue, follow me until you enter where I enter."
Abu Dharr did not sleep a wink the rest of that night because of his intense longing to see the Prophet and listen to the words of revelation. In the morning, he followed closely in Ali's footsteps until they were in the presence of the Prophet. As-salaamu Alayka Yaa Rasulullah, (Peace be on you, O Messenger of God)," greeted Abu Dharr.
Wa Alayka salaamullahi wa rahmatuhu wa barakaatuhu (And on you be the peace of God, His mercy and His blessings)," replied the Prophet. Abu Dharr was thus the first person to greet the Prophet with the greeting of Islam. After that, the greeting spread and came into general use.
The Prophet, peace be on him, welcomed Abu Dharr and invited him to Islam. He recited some of the Quran for him. Before long, Abu Dharr pronounced the Shahadah thus entering the new religion (without even leaving his place). He was among the first persons to accept Islam.
Narrated Abdullah bin Amr
A man asked the Prophet, "What sort of deeds or (what qualities of) Islam are good?" The Prophet replied, 'To feed (the poor) and greet those whom you know and those whom you do not know (See Hadith No. 27).Bukhari
